Well it’s hard to believe that Courtney will be 11 weeks old this week, time really has flown by! She smiles and laughs all the time, she is sleeping for a straight 5-6 hours at night and has managed to escape any serious harm at the hands of her overly loving sister. Kaitlyn loves being a big sister but she doesn’t understand that Courtney is real. I often find my self saying, “gentle Kaitlyn” or “be nice Kaitlyn”. She is learning and has some really sweet moments with her sister. If Courtney is crying Kaitlyn will give her a pacifier or give her kisses and and say, “don’t cry baby”. She loves to hold her and likes to help with her bottles. I could really get used to this stay at home mom routine! Mondays we try to make it to the kids gym but getting anywhere by 9am is a little challenging. Tuesdays we go to story time at the library so Kaitlyn can “shake her sillies out” (this is a wiggles song that the kids love!) Wednesdays we go down to Rocklin and visit the family. Then the rest of the week we just hang out at home, unless I’m feeling adventurous. We definitely have our challenging days, and being the sole entertainment for Kaitlyn can be exhausting, but I’m really loving being at home with the girls. Going back to work in April is going to be really hard, why can’t we just win the lottery!

Courtney’s birth story

Courtney Ann made a grand entrance on 12/24 @ 7pm weighing 7.12 and 20in. When I went to the Dr on Wed, 12/23, and he said I wasn’t dialated at all so I decided we should go to Walnut Creek to spend Christmas Eve with Scotts family….bad idea! I started having mild contractions at 3pm, left the Creek about 4:45. We made it as far as Vacaville when we hit traffic and decided we better find a hospital because I might not make it to Woodland. We then quickly drove to the first hospital we could find only to be sent back to Fairfield since Vacaville doesn’t have a hospital with labor and delivery. I was checked in to Fairfield at 6pm, here I delivered our little Christmas baby at 7pm, ALL NATURAL since there wasn’t time for the epidural. It was a crazy delivery but we are all doing great! I did scare the crap out of Scott though, if he wasn’t sure about this being our last I think he is now!

Happy Christmas Eve

Welcome Courtney! Baby Courtney was born at 7pm on Christmas Eve weighing 7lbs 12oz and was 20inch long. We have quite a story to tell about her birth. For example why was she not born in Woodland like we planned. Why were we turn away from a hospital? Maybe we’ll post that story.

8335 LED Lights on One House

Thats right the total for this year is more than double last year. We added 30 boxes of twinkling net lights to the lawn bringing the new total 8335 lights. The great thing about these lights are they only use a total 425 watts which comes out to about 11 cents ever 2 hours. To put things into perspective our Christmas tree with 300 standard lights uses 305 watts.

Santa Clause is coming to Rocklin?

Santa visits Rocklin again. He is greeted with three more kids this year. The triplets to be exact. Like last year Austin got up there and showed everyone how it was done. Kaitlyn followed soon after and wanted nothing to do with the man in red. Sydney and Lucas also wanted nothing to do with him while the triplets who didn’t know better sat and pulled at his beard. All of them got a present from Santa so they were happy. We snapped a handful of good pictures. Sadly everyone had a camera so each kid was looking at a different one for the group shots. Maybe next year we will be more organized.

Halloween 2009

Another Halloween has past and lots more scared kids visited the Sawin house. This year we added lots of new items including a second fog machine, things that drop from the sky and best of all eerie music. The sounds of cat fights, ravens, and other eerie sounds kept many kids and teenagers walking right on by our house. I figure the more that walk by the more candy I will have after Halloween. We started Halloween early this year. The kids started out painting pumpkins while the big kids took power tools to the rest of the pumpkins. Will won this year with an Elmo pumpkin. Overall another great Halloween, I can’t wait until next year. Click on the picture below to see more pictures.

Another Trip to Shanghi Park

Pumpkin Patch 2009

Back to the pumpkin patch again in 2009. It was a bit different than last year. First the summer heat was still around so we all roasted. Secondly those cute pictures of Kaitlyn sitting on the pumpkins last year were nearly impossible this year. Last year we were worried that she might fall off on of those big pumpkins where as this year getting her to sit on a pumpkin for 30 seconds was not very easy. Over all we had a good time but we would like to go again in cooler weather. Click on the picture to see more.

Disneyland 2009

We are back from the happiest place on earth and had a blast. As you can tell from the pictures we rode Dumbo over and over. Which isn’t the bad considering the family I was talking to earlier in the day who were off to Small World for the 5tth time that day, and it was only 1pm. We actually went to Disneyland all 5 days which the average person would say it way too much Disneyland. When you take an 17 month old and a pregnant wife everything happens at a much slower pace. The whole Sawin Family came on this trip and Kaitlyn convinced all of them to ride all the little kid rides. How could anyone resist that face? Airplane Ride

Today the Family boarded a plane to Disneyland. We packed every trick we could fit in our bad to avoid being that one baby on the airplane you wished you didn’t sit next to. This included cheese its, pirates booty, fruit snacks, teddy grams, dumb dumbs and more. We got Kaitlyn some head phones so she could watch elmo on my ipod. I also had a computer with elmo on it. Lastly we had her favorite blanket, 4 of favorite books, 5 pacifiers in case she decided to throw one, and juice.

We arrived at the airport with an hour and a half to waste. The airport has a family line for security screening so after I got dressed again Kaitlyn had to go say hi to everyone in sight. She ran from one end of the terminal to the other. We boarded a pretty empty flight which was nice and Kaitlyn just sat there and watched elmo on the ipod. About every 30 seconds she pushed the button that exited the video and asked for help starting it again. After about 15 min of that I turned on the laptop and she just laid down to watch. About 40 minutes into it she was out. Slept through the landing, de boarding but woke in time to get her bag.

Overall it went very well.
